Weave, Twine, Dye, Spin, Stitch

I work with natural and foraged materials as well as man-made reclaimed materials (fisherman’s rope, net, found cloth, plastic rosary beads). I employ, and push the boundaries of, traditional techniques like weaving, stitching, spinning, wrapping, twining and natural dying to create useful, decorative, and art objects. I’m continuously exploring the artistic possibilities of cellulose (plant-based) as standalone material in weaving, stitching, paper-making and papier mache, as well as in combination with other natural materials like wool and vintage textiles, text (my own and found), and man-made materials which often linger in our environment as trash. The process of collecting grasses, weeds, fronds, lichens, roots and other flora for use in both the botanic dying process and finished product is at the heart of my work.
