Weave, Twine, Dye, Spin, Stitch
My work centers around traditional textile techniques with a heavy dose of experimentation. Basic weave structure and stitch are at the heart of my process. Animal (wool) and cellulose fibers, foraged ‘natural’ and manmade elements are my primary materials. I’m currently exploring the photographic process of cyanotype using original photographs, text and collagraphic prints on fabric and paper (including book pages and found paper). The juxtaposition of industrial/manmade decay in rural environments, history, visual and textual palimpsest and material culture have always fascinated; the tension at play in both my textual and textural work.
